This is how we create synergies with other European projects

AlSiCal is one of the many European projects that work towards a greener mineral and mining industry. Many other projects are focusing on this goal as well; each of them with their own focus on specific processes, technologies, minerals or other. To create more visibility among a general audience, we have started creating synergies between AlSiCal and other related projects. Together we share experiences, approaches, progress, and implementation plans to keep each other updated about the different projects.

Many European countries and researchers are trying to find new solutions for the sustainable production of minerals and metals and to make the industry more environmentally friendly. With the AlSiCal project, we are focusing on making the minerals and metal industry more sustainable, by further researching, developing and de-risking the AlSiCal technology.

Biorecover
Biorecover develops an innovative sustainable strategy for selective biorecover of critical raw materials from Primary and Secondary sources.

SIDERWIN
ΣIDERWIN project aims at developing an innovative electrochemical process to transform iron oxide into steel metal plates. This process, based on the ULCOWIN technology developed since 2004, produces steel by electrolysis without direct CO2 emissions.

Sea4value
Sea4Value will design and implement technologies for recovering minerals and metals from seawater desalination brines. The aim is to make desalination plants the third source of valuable raw materials in the European Union.

Coralis
The main objective of CORALIS is to create pathways for the decarbonisation of resource and energy intensive sector value chains through the implementation of viable industrial symbiosis approaches combining new business and management strategies with innovative technology-based enablers.

ION4RAW
The main objective of Ion4Raw project is to develop a novel and sustainable ionometallurgical process to resource- and cost-effectively recovery of mainly by-products from primary sources (and the main metal in the ore), i.e ores and concentrates following a complete value chain.

SEArcular Mine
SEArcularMINE will prototype an innovative integrated process aimed at recovering energy and critical raw materials such as magnesium, lithium, rubidium and other trace elements, from waste brines in Mediterranean basin saltworks.

TARANTULA
TARANTULA’s overarching objective is to develop a toolkit of novel, efficient and flexible metallurgical technologies with high selectivity and recovery rates with respect to W, Nb and Ta.

Ensureal
The concept of the ENSUREAL is to develop and optimise a different alumina production process, capable of accepting lower grade ores while producing useful by-products such as cast-iron, fertilisers and soil improver and critical raw material concentrates (REE, Ga).

INTERMIN
INTERMIN will create a self-sustainable long-term lasting international network of training centres for professionals. This project involves educational and research institutions in the EU and the leading counterparts in third countries, based on specific country expertise in the primary and secondary raw materials sectors.

ReActiv
The ReActiv project will create a novel sustainable symbiotic value chain, linking the by-product of the alumina production industry and the cement production industry. The new ReActiv technologies will modify the properties of Bauxite Residue, transforming into a reactive material suitable for new, low CO2 footprint, cement products.

DIG_IT
DIG-IT provides solutions to address the imbalance and inequity of digital education opportunities offered at EU universities. DIG-IT will explore how EU universities, and the healthcare industry can collaborate to benefit from international networks that support educators to develop confidence and skills to use emerging technologies to enhance learning opportunities.

Robominers
ROBOMINERS is a project funded under the European Union’s Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020 (grant agreement n°820971) within strategic objective to facilitate EU access to mineral raw materials.

Sumex logo SUMEX
SUMEX is a 36-month project funded by the European Commission that started on 1 November 2020. The project aims to establish a sustainability framework for the extractive industry in Europe, with the involvement of stakeholders from civil society, academia, industry and government backgrounds from all across the EU.
